"A break in the uncertainty" is the subtitle of this game by Thomas Rauscher, which can be played with up to 6 people - unfortunately rarely. 300 years A.D.: The Polynesias explore thousands of Pacific islands on waghal sailing trips. Driven by adventure and overpopulation they sail on simple catamarans, the "Tongiaki", into uncertainties. Without the least navigational instruments, they are oriented with the help of the sun, stars, wind and water temperature. Birds, underwater reefs, cloud formations, fish and waveforms read them as a sign for nearby islands. Every journey becomes a life-threatening journey, because it is not often the way back is cut off because of too strong flow or the landing on an island is impossible. And the tension always goes with whether the next sea mile, the next day will bring the desired destination or the endless, dangerous ocean.
Tongiaki is a cheerful "Who do we sink now" game. There's a great discovery joy. The tactical possibilities are rich. A great family game!
