Whoever lies most skillfully, wins!
Each player must send 10 family members (2 of each trade) to work at the other players mansions. During each round, you must send 2 of your family members, each to a different opponent's houses. There the family members wait in the garden until the owner of that mansion takes their turn. In order to bribe the owner of the house, all players who placed a family member in the garden, must make an offer in increments of 10,000 ducats. You decide to include a promise, a threat or a complement if you think it will help.
On your turn you first collect any income from your relatives who are employed in other households. Next he must allocate a room in his house for each profession. If other players family members are in the garden, you must decide who to employ. It is up to you whether you decide to break promises or not.
If there are family members of the same profession in your garden, they must automatically outbid each other. The profession already resident must place the first bribe followed by the "aggressor". The aggressor for his part tries to break any alliances or make a better proposal/promise. Earnings for positions at a house may range from 10,000 to 100,000 ducats so you may wish to bribe well.
How many ducats that you own is secret, and can also be part of the fun of the game speculating what others have. You always wonder how well the other players are doing! You do not always have to have the number 1 spot in every household. Due to the nature of the game, with 5 players it is very difficult to keep track of what everyone is doing. Sometimes you may even bribe down to your underwear and still not get the number one position.
Whoever can keep their true money circumstances secret and convince others of their poverty and need, although they have amassed income, will win the game.
