We write the year 1672. The notorious Fortress Cartagena is the content of countless adventure stories and anecdotes. "No one escapes from here," say the builders of the angled house. The goal of the game is to prove the opposite first. Each player has six pirates that he must guide as soon as possible through a long, narrow tunnel from the fortress to the coast. There's a boat ready. Those who lead his men first into the wooden chamfer are standing in the lake. But until then it is a long way. Because only with the right cards and the cleverest tactics it is possible to secure your own men from those of others. Of course, everything is pushing forward - but in order to get new maps without which the end of the tunnel remains inaccessible, you have to retreat again. From this contradiction - before or back - a cracking tension quickly grows that lasts until the end - even because you never know exactly who really lies ahead. It requires overview and tactically skillful planning to not lose too much ground while retracting and to discover the most favorable constellation for a quick advance in the variety of train options, so that you have the nose in the end.
Cartagena was played at the German team championships in the board game 2005. Online is the Tortuga (standard), the Hispaniola and the Jamaica version playable.
