Surfosaurus MAX is played with cards in seven colors, with values from 01 to 12 (and point values from 12 - 2).
A high card value means few points and vice versa.
On your turn, you play a card and draw immediately.
If you have the right number of cards, the best possible card combo on the table that can be formed from all the cards of all players wins.
If you were also able to contribute a card to this combo, you receive points according to the point value of the card(s) you contributed.
Depending on the number of players, some of the 84 cards are removed before the start.
2 players 24 cards
3 players 12 cards
4 players 0 cards
5 players 4 cards
6 players 0 cards
At the start, all players receive 7 cards.
On your turn, play 1 card from your hand face up in front of you and immediately draw a new one.
Then it's the next player's turn.
Continue playing until each player has played the correct number of Surfosaurus cards.
2 to 3 players: Each player plays 3 cards.
4 to 6 players: Everyone plays 2 cards.
The strongest possible combo (from all cards on display) of the correct number of cards wins.
2 to 4 players: The best 4-card combo wins.
5 to 6 players: The best 5-card combo wins.
Everyone who contributed one or more cards to the strongest combo receives the point value of that card(s) and places it under their corresponding coconut (half or whole).
Strongest (1) to weakest (5)
1) Straight flush (one color)
2) Equal value (4/5 of a kind)
3) Same color (flush)
4) Straight (Straight)
5) Highest values (High cards)
Example:
Where possible, all ties are resolved in favor of the card or cards with the higher value.
Example:
Ties within a combo between cards of the same value cannot be resolved. (Very rare: Two single-color streets (1) or two same-color combos (3) with exactly the same values are also unresolvable ties).
Cards in an unresolvable tie only score half points.
Example:
Played Surfosaurus cards that score full points are collected under the whole coconut. Cards that are only worth half points (due to an unresolvable tie) are collected under your half coconut.
All played cards that were not part of the strongest combo are removed from the game.
Then you all continue playing with the cards you already have. The starting player continues in clockwise order.
The game ends after everyone has been the starting player for the correct number of rounds.
2 players: Everyone starts 3 rounds.
3 to 4 players: Everyone starts 2 rounds.
5 to 6 players: everyone starts 1 round.
Whoever has the most points wins. In the event of a tie, the tied player who has collected more cards in total under their coconuts wins.
In the event of another tie, all players involved win
In a two-player game, 1 random Surfosaurus card is revealed from the draw pile after you have both played your first card.
Also after you have both played your second card (but not after the third).
These 2 additional cards are treated as if they had been played by a third player when determining the strongest possible combo at the end of the round.
Both random cards are then removed from the game, regardless of whether they were part of the strongest combo or not.
